Here are 5 tips while the fire is happening that you could use to help you, your family or your colleagues survive the deadly effects of a fire.

  1.  Get Low And Go, Preventing Smoke Inhalation: Getting low will give you an extra advantage when trying to navigate through a smoke-filled room because the smoke rises.
  2. Get Out And Stay Out: Only once the firefighters have deemed it safe for re-entry should anyone not equipped to fight the fire step a foot back inside.
  3. Have An Escape Plan: Having an escape plan is as simple as knowing what routes to take to safely exit a room in the case of an emergency.
  4. Assign A Meeting Place: The meeting place should be far enough away from the building that is on fire that there is no more immediate threat of danger should an explosion happen.
  5. Smoke Detectors: The loud alarm generated by these life-saving machines can be heard throughout the house which signals to the people in every room that a potential emergency is present.

Implementing a fire strategy using these tips will definitely give you a solid base of what to do if a fire does strike in your Grand Strand home or business!
